PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
- 1981 – Present – Alachua County Property Appraiser
- Responsible for the valuation, assessment and administration of Alachua County’s roughly 100,000 real property parcels and 13,000 tangible personal property parcels. During his tenure the tax rolls have increased from $1.5 billion to over $23 billion. Prepares and administers a $4 million dollar operational budget. Manages a staff of 55 and administers the property exemption and classification programs.
- Initiated and supervised a Total Quality Management Program which was awarded the Northeast Region Sterling Team Showcase competition in 1995.
- Implemented and administer a successful Geographic Information System (GIS) for Alachua County.
- Consultant on Property Tax Administration and Policy, Geographic Information Systems, Cadastre Management and Quality Management in Government to Washington DC, Anchorage Alaska, US Virgin Islands, Coventry Rhode Island, Newport News, Suffolk, Hampton, Portsmouth, and York County Virginia, and Nassau County New York.
- An International Seminar Leader and nationally recognized presenter at professional seminars across the US for over twenty years as well as in Canada, Costa Rico, Hong Kong, Poland and the United Kingdom.
