Mr. Crapo has served as the Alachua County Property Appraiser since January 1, 1981. There have been vast changes in Alachua County over the past 26 years. Mr. Crapo has successfully integrated modern technology and management practices into the Property Appraiser’s Office without the office losing its sense of dedication to taxpayer and public assistance. His expertise has been recognized locally, nationally and internationally. He is sought after as an expert and leader in Property Taxation and Administration, Geographic Information System Applications and Quality Management in Government Sectors. He prepares and oversees an operational budget of over $4 million dollars and manages a staff of 58. During his tenure Alachua County has grown from a population of 151,369 and 54,989 parcels of property on the tax roll worth $2,912,001,522 and a taxable value of $1,452,932,460, to a population of 227,120, 98,068 parcels with an overall value of $22,959,557,013 and a taxable value of $12,808,841,757.
